My work examines the gendered associations society assigns to inanimate materials, highlighting the emotional connections people form with objects. Through my practice, I explore how these connections intersect with anxieties about relationships, memory, and the expectations we place on ourselves.
Rooted in my nonbinary and queer identity, I challenge and dismantle societal norms that shape perceptions of trans, femme, and queer individuals. By engaging with these narratives, I aim to create space for reflection and dialogue about identity and belonging.
Fiber is at the heart of my practice. I often work with crocheting, rope, felt, and other soft materials, mediums historically tied to “women’s work” and dismissed as simply craft. By embracing these traditions, I reclaim their significance and invite a reexamination of their cultural and artistic value.
